1000 mm Barrier-Free Wall-Hung Vanity — Natural Oak with a Cast-Mineral Basin

A German bathroom renovation in 2026 is increasingly written around two people who will use the room for the next twenty years: an owner who wants a washplace they can sit at, and a specifier who has to document the clearances. This console solves both without looking clinical. The 1000 mm top is one cast-mineral slab with the bowl moulded into it, carried on a natural oak console with a 680 mm clear knee space on the left and two handleless drawers on the right, so the storage a normal vanity would hold is still there — it has simply moved to the side of the basin instead of underneath it. The trap is set back to 250 mm from the front edge and covered by a brushed stainless shroud, which is the detail that turns a wheelchair-accessible unit into a washplace somebody chooses for a normal family bathroom. It is not a medical product with a rail bolted on: it is the console vanity format that German bathroom studios have been specifying for accessible renovations, built here as a 20-piece OEM programme.

  • 1000 mm W x 500 mm D x 500 mm H wall-hung console, floating 300 mm above the finished floor with a 680 mm clear height and 600 mm clear width in the knee space — the figures a German accessible-bathroom drawing needs before anything else on the sheet
  • 30 mm cast-mineral top with the bowl moulded into the slab: 520 x 340 x 120 mm inner bowl, 12 degree walls, a 2 mm eased rim and no ceramic insert, so there is no gasket line to re-silicone and no lip to catch water at the front edge
  • Natural white-oak console and drawer fronts at 19 mm with straight horizontal grain and a 3 mm even shadow gap — the oak is the reason the unit reads as furniture rather than as a care fitting, and it is available in ash, walnut or RAL-matched matt lacquer on the same frame
  • Two handleless push-to-open drawers on the right-hand side, 400 mm wide, full-extension runners rated 30 kg, with a 90 mm deep cutlery insert and a 60 mm rear service void that clears a wall-mounted angle valve
  • Siphon set back 250 mm from the front edge and enclosed in a brushed stainless shroud at 110 mm diameter — a standard bottle trap in the middle of an open console is the single most common reason an accessible vanity gets rejected on site
  • Brushed stainless single-lever mixer with a 350 mm high spout and a 120 mm reach, 35 mm ceramic cartridge, plus a 200 mm lever handle option for a closed-fist grip; the tap hole is drilled back-right by default and can be undrilled for a wall spout
  • Slim brushed stainless towel rail under the front edge of the knee space, 600 mm long, fixed into the oak side panel with two M6 inserts rather than into the 19 mm panel itself, so it takes a wet towel without pulling the frame
  • Galvanised steel hanging rail with two M8 through-fixings per stud and a 25 mm levelling range, supplied with a paper drilling template and a German-language fixing sheet that separates concrete, lime-sand brick and drywall
  • Optional 1000 x 700 mm mirror with 4000K edge LED at CRI 90+, IP44 rated, touch dimmer and anti-fog film — quoted as a separate SKU so the console can ship with or without it

Specifications

Programme scopeWall-hung barrier-free console vanity, 1000 mm with a 600 mm clear knee space and a 400 mm drawer bank; widths 900 / 1000 / 1200 mm on the same top, bowl and drawer programme, with the knee space held at a constant 600 mm and the drawer bank taking the difference.
Dimensions1000 mm W x 500 mm D x 500 mm H carcass; 30 mm top brings the rim to 530 mm above the finished floor; 680 mm clear height from floor to the underside of the top and 600 mm clear width in the knee space; recommended mounting height 800 to 850 mm to the top rim for a seated user, 850 to 900 mm for a standing one, both marked on the supplied template.
Barrier-free detailingOpen knee space of 600 mm wide x 680 mm high x 480 mm deep with no plinth and no cabinet below the bowl; bottle trap set back 250 mm from the front edge and enclosed in a brushed stainless shroud; no exposed supply pipes inside the knee space, with the angle valves on the drawer side; the design follows the clearance logic German accessible-bathroom specs are drawn to (DIN 18040-1), so the unit can go into a documented barrier-free renovation without a special build.
Carcass19 mm white-oak veneered plywood with sealed ABS edges and an 8 mm moisture-resistant back panel; the console is a two-part structure — a 19 mm oak side frame carrying the top and a separate 400 mm drawer bank — so the top is supported at both ends rather than cantilevered off the drawer box.
Top and basin30 mm cast mineral (solid surface) in matte white, bowl moulded into the slab at 520 x 340 x 120 mm with 12 degree walls and a 2 mm eased rim; mineral is specified rather than ceramic because the bowl and top are one piece with no joint, and because a chipped mineral surface can be sanded and re-polished on site, which ceramic cannot; matte white, warm grey and sand are standard colours.
Fronts and finish19 mm MDF drawer fronts in natural white-oak veneer with a hard-wax oil or a 5 to 8 gloss unit matt lacquer; handleless push-to-open as standard with a 3 mm even shadow gap; 12 mm brushed stainless bar pulls at 320 mm centres on the same drilling if the project wants visible hardware; RAL-matched matt lacquer from 50 pcs.
HardwareBlum Tandem full-extension runners rated 30 kg with soft-close and push-to-open, Blum clip-on hinges on the side panel fixings, all with three-way adjustment; tip-on catches rated for a 19 mm front; the tap is a 35 mm ceramic cartridge mixer in 304 stainless with a PVD brushed finish.
InstallationGalvanised steel hanging rail with two M8 through-fixings per stud and a 25 mm levelling range; paper drilling template and a German-language fixing sheet naming concrete, lime-sand brick and drywall separately; the console can be hung and levelled by one fitter in about 40 minutes, with the drawer bank clipped on after the top is set.
PackagingTwo cartons — top and console frame at 1060 x 560 x 180 mm and 34 kg gross, drawer bank at 460 x 560 x 520 mm and 18 kg gross; 5-layer board, foam corner blocks, a rigid face board in front of the top, and the mineral top wrapped in a non-woven sleeve rather than a plastic bag so the matte face is not marked in transit.
MOQ and lead time20 pcs per model; widths, tap-hole positions and two finishes may be mixed inside the 20; sample 7 to 10 days, production 30 to 35 days, FOB Ningbo or CIF to Hamburg, Bremerhaven or Rotterdam.
ComplianceISO9001, CE, SGS and FSA factory certifications; E1 low-emission board and low-VOC lacquer; IP44 on the optional mirror lighting; cast mineral supplied with a batch declaration for the mineral filler; FSC-certified oak available on request.

Product FAQ

Why a console vanity instead of a normal cabinet with the doors removed?
Because a cabinet with the doors taken off still has a carcass in the way of the knees, and the cut edges and shelf holes are then visible from a wheelchair. A console is built the other way round: the top is carried on a side frame and a drawer bank, and the space under the bowl was never a box in the first place. That is what allows a 680 mm clear height with a finished 19 mm oak panel on the inside of the frame instead of a raw board edge. The storage is not lost — it moves to a 400 mm drawer bank beside the basin, which is also easier to reach from a seated position than a drawer under the bowl.
Does the trap really need to be moved, and what happens if it is not?
A standard bottle trap hangs 300 to 350 mm below the waste and sits roughly 150 mm back from the front edge, which puts it exactly where a wheelchair footplate and a seated user's knees go. On this model the waste is drilled 250 mm back from the front edge and the trap is pulled tight to the wall, then covered by a 110 mm brushed stainless shroud so the knee space is a clean 480 mm deep void. On a project where the existing waste is in the floor rather than the wall, we supply a 40 mm low-profile trap and the shroud in a longer version at no extra cost — this is the detail to settle at survey stage, not on installation day.
Is a cast-mineral basin suitable for a rental or a hotel project?
Yes, and it is the reason we specify mineral rather than ceramic here. The bowl is part of the top, so there is no joint for water or cleaning chemicals to attack and no separate basin to break in transit. If a surface does get scratched or stained, a 400 grit pad followed by a re-polish brings it back — a job a maintenance team can do between guests, which is not true of glazed ceramic. The trade-off is weight: the 30 mm top is about 24 kg, so it is a two-person lift, and the packing is built around that.
What mounting height should we specify?
850 to 900 mm to the top rim for a standing user, 800 to 850 mm for a seated user, and the mirror centre line at 1000 mm above finished floor level for a seated user. Those three figures are what actually decide whether the room works, and they are marked on the template that ships with every unit, so the fitter sets the rail once. Where a project has both users in the same household, the common answer is 850 mm to the rim with a mirror on a slight tilt rather than two different installations.
How does this fit a 20-piece programme with different room widths?
The knee space stays at 600 mm and the drawer bank absorbs the difference: 900 mm gives a 300 mm drawer bank, 1000 mm gives 400 mm, and 1200 mm gives a 600 mm two-drawer-wide bank. The top, the bowl, the trap position and the hanging rail are identical across the three widths, so a hotel or a care-home wing can mix widths inside one 20-piece order without a second tooling set-up. Sample lead time is 7 to 10 days and production 30 to 35 days, FOB Ningbo or CIF to Hamburg, Bremerhaven or Rotterdam.
