36 Inch Cane-Front White Oak Freestanding Vanity — Sintered Stone Top

The 36 inch single-sink vanity is still the unit that carries the US bathroom category — it is the width that fits a hall bath, a guest bath and most primary bath refreshes without a plumbing move, and in 2026 the finish conversation has moved away from grey painted MDF towards warm wood and tactile texture. This unit answers both: a solid white oak frame with two cane webbing door panels, so the cabinet reads as furniture rather than a box, and the texture does the job a flat lacquer door cannot — it catches light, warms a room with no window and hides water spotting. The top is a 25 mm sintered stone slab over a ceramic undermount basin, the drawer is one full-width soft-close box on the upper rail rather than three shallow ones, and the whole thing stands on four tapered oak legs at 34 inches finished height. It is the format US buyers are asking for at the 36 inch price point: warm, cane-detailed, freestanding, and shippable on the same carcass programme as the rest of our oak range.

  • 36 in W x 22 in D x 34 in H freestanding footprint (914 x 559 x 864 mm) — matches the standard US 36 in hall-bath and guest-bath rough-in without moving the drain, and the 34 in finished height clears a 36 in mirror bottom at 42 in
  • Solid white oak face frame and door stiles around a natural cane webbing panel — the weave is a hexagon open cane with a clear PU sealer on both faces, so it survives a wet room instead of absorbing humidity and going slack in the first season
  • One full-width soft-close drawer above two cane doors rather than three stacked drawers: a single 8 in deep box takes a hair dryer, a stack of towels and a box of product, which is what a hall bath actually stores
  • 25 mm sintered stone top with a 4 in backsplash option — no sealing, no etching from toothpaste or hair dye, and it takes a single-hole or 8 in widespread faucet drilling on the same slab
  • Ceramic undermount basin with an overflow; cUPC-listed drain and supply hardware available for US code compliance on request
  • Matte black slim bar pulls on a 96 mm centre-to-centre drilling — the hardware colour that has replaced brushed nickel in US retail programmes, and the same pull is available in brushed brass and satin nickel on the same hole pattern
  • Soft-close door hinges and drawer runners as standard; Blum hinges and Tandem slides available as an option on the same drilling
  • Adjustable levellers concealed behind the front legs plus a rear leg pair with ±8 mm adjustment, so a 36 in unit sits flat on a floor that is out of level by a quarter inch — the most common call-back on a freestanding vanity
  • 18 mm plywood carcass with moisture-sealed edges and a sealed service void — plywood rather than particleboard because US buyers ask for it by name and it holds a screw at the hinge plate after a door has been slammed for ten years

Product FAQ

Will cane webbing actually survive a bathroom?
Open cane is a natural fibre and an untreated panel will absorb humidity, slacken and eventually stain — which is why most cane furniture is specified for a dry room. Ours is a different build: the weave is sealed with a clear PU on both faces before it is set into the door, so the fibre is closed to moisture and to the soap and hairspray that end up on a vanity door. It is still a natural material, so we specify it for a ventilated bathroom with an extractor fan rather than a wet room with a open shower next to the cabinet; where the client wants zero organic content, the same door is cut in a routed oak slat or a fluted oak profile on the identical frame, and the drilling does not change. That swap is the reason we keep the frame and the panel as separate parts instead of pressing one door blank.
Is 34 inches the right height for a US vanity?
34 inches to the top of the counter is the comfort-height standard that has replaced the old 30 to 32 inch builder height in US residential work, and it is what most home-centre programmes now stock. It puts the basin rim at roughly hip height for an average adult, which is why it also appears in ageing-in-place and ADA-adjacent specifications — though a true ADA unit needs a knee clearance and a 34 inch maximum with a specific apron, and this model is not that. If your programme is still on 32 inches, the leg length changes and the carcass height stays the same, so both heights run on one production set.
What is the difference between the sintered stone top and a quartz top?
Both are non-porous and neither needs sealing, so the practical difference is where they fail. Sintered stone is pressed and fired, which makes it harder and more heat- and scratch-resistant, and it holds a very thin edge, which is why this unit reads as a 25 mm slab rather than a thick build-up. Quartz is a resin-bonded composite: it is tougher against impact and cheaper at the same thickness, but it will scorch under a hot curling iron and it cannot take a 12 mm edge without a build-up. For a vanity the sintered slab is the better wear story, for a price-led retail programme quartz is the better margin story — we quote both on the same drawing.
Can the faucet drilling, basin and top be specified separately?
Yes. The top is cut after the slab is finished, not during, so a late change from a single-hole to an 8 inch widespread faucet does not scrap the top — it changes the CNC file. We can also ship the cabinet without a top or basin if the retailer sources stone locally, which is common in US programmes where the dealer wants to bundle a remnant slab. Send the faucet cut-out drawing and the basin template with the order and we return a drilling confirmation before production starts.
