54-Inch Walnut Double Vanity — A Furniture-Leg Base Under a 1.2-Inch Sintered Stone Top

Fifty-four inches is the size US dealers ask for when the wall is five feet and the plan still wants two basins: 48 in is tight on storage, 60 in means cutting into a doorway or losing the linen tower. The catalogue has plenty of both ends and almost nothing in between, which is why this one exists. It is also built the way a US freestanding vanity is actually judged — as a piece of furniture sitting against a wall rather than as a box screwed to it. The cabinet stands on four solid walnut legs with a six-inch clearance under the frame, so a mop reaches the floor and the base does not read as a builder-grade toe kick; the front is walnut veneer with a straight horizontal grain running continuously across all eight fronts; and the top is a 1.2 in sintered stone slab rather than the cultured marble that most US builder packages still ship with. Two rectangular white ceramic basins sit under it on an 8 in widespread drill, which is the faucet standard a US plumber expects to find already cut. This is a 20-piece OEM programme for US importers, dealers and multi-family specifiers, quoted with the top and the basins or as a cabinet only.

  • 54 in W x 22 in D x 34 in H carcass — the in-between size that fits a five-foot wall with two basins, sitting between the 48 in and 60 in formats that dominate US retail; the 34 in height is 2 in above builder-grade 32 in, which is the difference a standing adult notices at the sink
  • Four solid walnut legs, 3 in square at the top tapering to 2 in, with 6 in of clear floor under the frame and adjustable levellers set into the foot — a furniture base rather than a recessed toe kick, so the unit can be shimmed level on a sloping tile floor without a plinth being cut on site
  • Walnut veneer on 18 mm plywood carcass and 19 mm door and drawer fronts, straight horizontal grain sequence-matched across all eight fronts so the figure runs continuously along the run instead of stepping at every joint
  • Front layout: a three-drawer bank left, a two-door centre cabinet under the basins with one adjustable shelf, a three-drawer bank right — the drawer banks are 450 mm wide so a 54 in unit still gives six full-extension drawers and a 900 mm wide plumbing bay
  • 1.2 in (30 mm) sintered stone top in warm white with a faint grey vein, 22 in deep with a 0.5 in front overhang and a flat eased edge — sintered stone rather than cultured marble because it takes a hot pan, a hair tool and a bleach-based cleaner without the gel coat staining or chalking
  • Two rectangular white ceramic undermount basins, 18 x 13 x 7 in inner bowl, clipped and sealed from below so there is no rim to silicone and no lip to catch water at the front edge
  • 8 in widespread faucet drill as standard, three holes at 1-3/8 in, with a 1-3/4 in drain opening and an overflow — the US plumbing standard, so the top arrives ready for a plumber rather than needing a second fabrication step; single-hole and 4 in centreset drilling available on the same top
  • Four-inch matching sintered stone backsplash cut from the same slab and shipped in the top carton — the piece US installers expect in the box, and the reason the stone colour matches the top exactly instead of approximately
  • Blum Tandem full-extension runners rated 30 kg with soft-close on all six drawers, Blum clip-on hinges with three-way adjustment on the two centre doors, or a cost-equivalent Chinese runner set on the same 32 mm drilling
  • Flat-pack or assembled export: cabinet in a 5-layer carton with foam corner blocks, the stone top in a separate crate with a rigid face board and a non-woven sleeve, the backsplash bundled with the top

Specifications

Programme scopeFreestanding double vanity, 54 in wide with two drawer banks and a centre door cabinet, supplied as cabinet only, cabinet with top and basins, or a full set with two faucets; widths 48 / 54 / 60 in on the same leg, front and drilling programme, with the centre bay absorbing the difference.
Dimensions54 in W x 22 in D x 34 in H to the top of the carcass; the 1.2 in top brings the finished surface to 35.2 in; 6 in clear under the leg frame; drawer banks 450 mm wide each, centre bay 900 mm wide; basin centres set at 13-1/2 in from each end so the pair is symmetric about the centre line.
Carcass18 mm walnut-veneered plywood with sealed ABS edges, 8 mm moisture-resistant back panel, 32 mm system drilling; the leg frame is a separate 30 mm solid walnut sub-frame bolted to the underside of the carcass, so the load goes into the frame rather than into the bottom panel; 18 mm E1 chipboard available as a cost-down for dry inland projects.
Fronts and finish19 mm walnut-veneer door and drawer fronts, sequence-matched horizontal grain, 5 to 8 gloss unit matt lacquer or hard-wax oil; 3 mm even shadow gaps; handleless push-to-open available on the same fronts; solid walnut, white oak or RAL-matched lacquer from 50 pcs.

Basins and faucetsTwo rectangular white ceramic undermount basins at 18 x 13 x 7 in with a 1-3/4 in drain and overflow; 8 in widespread faucet drill as standard with 1-3/8 in holes, single-hole or 4 in centreset on request; faucets quoted as a separate SKU in brushed nickel or matte black, 35 mm ceramic cartridge.
HardwareBlum Tandem full-extension runners rated 30 kg with soft-close and Blum clip-on hinges with three-way adjustment as the specified option, or a cost-equivalent runner set on the same 32 mm drilling; tip-on catches where handleless fronts are specified; drawer bottoms in 5 mm HDF with a sealed underside.
InstallationThe cabinet arrives assembled with the leg frame fitted; the top is set on a bead of silicone and two alignment dowels, then the basins are clipped from below; a 54 in unit is a two-person lift at roughly 78 kg with the stone on; levellers give 10 mm of adjustment per leg; a US-language assembly sheet covers the drain, supply and silicone sequence.
PackagingTwo cartons plus one crate — cabinet at 1420 x 620 x 900 mm and 62 kg gross, top and backsplash at 1450 x 620 x 90 mm and 34 kg gross; 5-layer board, foam corner blocks, a rigid face board in front of the stone, and the top wrapped in a non-woven sleeve rather than a plastic bag so the honed face is not marked in transit; a 54 in set lands at roughly 0.95 cbm.
MOQ and lead time20 pcs per model; widths, finishes and top options may be mixed inside the 20; sample 7 to 10 days, production 30 to 35 days, FOB Ningbo or CIF to Los Angeles, Long Beach, New York or Savannah.

Product FAQ

Why 54 in when 48 in and 60 in are the standard US sizes?
Because a five-foot wall is a very common US bathroom dimension and neither standard size fits it well. A 48 in unit leaves six inches of dead wall that has to be filled with a filler panel or left as a gap, and the drawer banks are narrow enough that the storage is genuinely compromised with two basins on top. A 60 in unit needs the full five feet plus clearance, so on a wall with a door swing or a shower return it either will not go in or it blocks the trim. At 54 in the two 450 mm drawer banks stay full depth, the centre bay still takes a 900 mm plumbing space, and the unit leaves three inches at each end for a scribe or a wall return. It is the size dealers ask for after the first two sizes have failed on a job.
Why legs instead of a toe kick, and does that cost storage?
Legs cost about 4 in of internal height at the bottom of the end panels and nothing else — the drawer boxes and the shelf sit on the same carcass either way. What they buy is a base that behaves like furniture: it can be levelled on a sloping tile floor with the levellers in the feet, it can be lifted and moved without cutting a plinth, and it reads as a piece of joinery rather than as a builder cabinet. In the US freestanding category the leg detail is a visible price signal, and it is the difference between a unit that a dealer puts on a showroom floor and one that only appears in a builder package. Where the job is multi-family and cleaning staff need a mop line, a recessed toe kick version is available on the same carcass at no change in price.
Sintered stone or cultured marble on a 54 in top?
Cultured marble is a gel-coated composite and it is what most US builder packages still ship, because it is cheap and it can be moulded with the basin integral. It also chalks, stains around the drain and cannot take a hot straightener or a solvent cleaner without the gel coat going dull, which on a double vanity shows up first around the two basins. Sintered stone is a pressed mineral slab fired at high temperature: it takes heat, it does not need sealing, and a chip is a chip rather than a crack that runs. The trade-off is weight and cost — a 54 in slab is about 34 kg and it has to be templated rather than moulded — which is why we quote both on the same carcass and let the programme decide.
Does the 8 in widespread drill really matter, or can the plumber cut it on site?
It matters, because cutting a sintered stone top on site is not a job a plumber can do with a hole saw. The 8 in widespread pattern, three holes at 1-3/8 in on 8 in centres with a 1-3/4 in drain between them, is the US standard and it is drilled and polished at the factory from the approved drawing. If a project specifies a single-hole or a 4 in centreset faucet, that is a different drill and it has to be on the order, not discovered at installation. The same applies to the drain position: an 8 in spread with the drain set 2 in back from the basin centre is fine, but a vessel basin or an offset waste changes the template.
How does a 20-piece order work if the sizes are mixed?
The leg frame, the front programme, the 32 mm drilling and the basin template are identical across 48, 54 and 60 in, so a dealer can order a mix of sizes in one 20-piece lot without a second tooling set-up. What cannot be mixed freely is the stone: each width needs its own slab template, and a custom colour or a non-standard drill adds 10 to 15 days for approval. In practice a first order is one width in one finish, the second order adds a size, and the third adds a second top colour — the same programme, three purchase orders.
