850mm Eucalyptus Wall-Hung Vanity — Chilean Timber Tone on a 20mm Stone Deck

Chilean bathrooms have moved toward warm timber and away from white lacquer, and the timber that reads as local rather than imported is eucalyptus — the plantation hardwood behind most of the country's furniture, with a grey-green heart that drifts to warm brown under a clear finish and a straight, close grain that looks calm in a small room. This 850mm wall-hung vanity is faced in quarter-cut eucalyptus veneer at 0.6mm, laid so both drawer fronts come off one flitch and the grain runs through the 3mm shadow gap instead of resetting at it. There are no handles: a 20 x 15mm finger-pull channel is routed under the top rail in matte black anodised aluminium, so the face reads as two panels of timber and nothing else, with a 128mm matte black bar pull available on the same drilling for programmes that want visible hardware. The deck is 20mm sintered stone in warm white with a faint grey vein, 460mm deep with a 20mm square edge, over an undermount vitreous china basin drilled with one centred 35mm tap hole and a 40mm waste — the drain size Chilean plumbers expect at a lavatory, with no reducer needed at the trap. Underneath sits an 18mm marine-grade plywood carcass with sealed edges, Blum TandemBox soft-close drawers at 340mm internal depth, and a galvanised steel hanging rail that sets the 150mm floor clearance after the tiles are laid. At 850mm wide and 460mm deep it suits the second bathroom of a departamento, where 900mm is tight against a shower screen but 800mm leaves no usable counter. This is a 20-piece OEM/ODM programme for Chilean and Peruvian importers, bathroom retailers and project joiners.

  • 850mm W x 460mm D x 500mm H carcass, wall-hung with 150mm clear underneath — the in-between width that fits a departamento second bathroom where 900mm fouls the shower screen and 800mm leaves no counter
  • Quarter-cut eucalyptus veneer at 0.6mm on 18mm moisture-resistant MDF, book-matched across the two drawer fronts from a single flitch so the grain carries through the shadow gap — the detail that separates a timber-faced cabinet from a printed woodgrain foil
  • Matt open-pore polyurethane at 3 to 5 gloss units, two coats over a pigmented sealer, so the pores stay visible and the surface reads as sealed timber rather than a plastic film; matched to a supplied sample or to a eucalyptus control board
  • Handleless face: a 20 x 15mm finger-pull channel routed under the top rail, matte black anodised aluminium insert, so both drawers open across the full width with no visible hardware; 128mm matte black bar pulls can be drilled on the same fronts
  • Two equal-height full-width drawers on Blum TandemBox soft-close runners rated 30kg, 340mm internal depth, full extension — deep enough for a 300mm bottle standing upright, which is where shallow vanity drawers usually fail
  • 20mm sintered stone deck, 850 x 460mm, warm white with a faint grey vein, 20mm square edge and an optional 40mm matching upstand cut from the same slab; non-porous, so toothpaste, hair dye and lime-scale cleaner wipe off without etching the way a sealed marble does
  • Undermount vitreous china basin, 500 x 360 x 130mm, soft-radius rectangular bowl, bonded and mechanically bracketed under the stone, with a single centred 35mm tap hole and a 40mm waste outlet — the Chilean lavatory drain size, no 32mm European waste and no adapter at the trap
  • 18mm marine-grade plywood carcass with A-bond glue line and sealed ABS edges, 8mm moisture-resistant back panel, 32mm system drilling — plywood rather than chipboard because a wall-hung box carries its load through the back panel and swells at the first leak if it is particle board
  • Galvanised steel hanging rail supplied per unit, drilled for six M8 anchors at 400 and 600mm centres to suit Chilean reinforced masonry and stud walls, with two adjustable brackets that set and level the 150mm clearance after the floor tiles are laid
  • Finish tested to 200 revolutions Taber abrasion and a 72-hour 40 degrees C / 90 percent RH humidity cycle with no veneer lift or glue creep at the edges; a touch-up pen in the batch tone ships with every order
  • Matching 850 x 750mm frameless 5mm mirror with safety backing, or an 850 x 750 x 150mm shaving cabinet with a mirrored door, two adjustable shelves and an IP44 LED option on the same fixing centres

Both are drilled on the same fixing centres as the vanity rail.
InstallationRail-mounted: the galvanised steel rail is fixed first with six M8 anchors, the cabinet hangs and is levelled on two adjustable brackets, and the 150mm clearance is set after the floor tiles are laid. A 1200mm unit takes roughly 45 to 60 minutes for one fitter including the stone deck and basin. An English and Spanish assembly sheet ships with every order.
PackagingCabinet in a 5-layer carton with foam corner blocks at roughly 90 x 50 x 55cm and 38kg gross; stone deck in a separate crate with a timber frame at roughly 95 x 52 x 8cm and 22kg; basin in its own moulded carton. Drawer fronts stay fitted and are foam-interleaved so the veneer face is never against cardboard.
MOQ and lead time20 pcs per model; widths may be mixed inside the 20 because the carcass, runner drilling and 3mm gap are identical across the range. A custom finish match on the veneer starts at 50 pcs with a sprayed approval panel. Sample 10 to 14 days, production 30 to 35 days, FOB Ningbo or CIF San Antonio, Valparaiso and Callao.

Product FAQ

Why eucalyptus rather than oak for the Chilean market?
Because it is the timber Chilean buyers already know from local furniture, and it behaves differently from oak in a bathroom. Eucalyptus has a straight, close grain with very little ray figure, so a book-matched pair of drawer fronts reads as two calm panels rather than a busy pattern, and its colour sits between grey-green and warm brown, which works against both the grey porcelain that dominates Chilean apartment bathrooms and the beige travertine-look tile used in older buildings. Oak is paler and more yellow, and in a small room it tends to flatten the whole space. The veneer here is quarter-cut at 0.6mm on moisture-resistant MDF with a solid eucalyptus edge lipping, sealed under a matt open-pore polyurethane, so the pores stay open and the surface looks like timber rather than a print.
Will 850mm actually fit a departamento bathroom?
It is the width that solves the common Chilean layout problem: a second bathroom roughly 1.6 to 1.8m wide with a shower screen on one side. A 900mm vanity usually leaves too little clearance to step out of the shower, and an 800mm unit leaves a counter too short for a toothbrush cup, a soap dish and a hair dryer. At 850 x 460mm the unit keeps 150mm clear underneath so the floor reads continuous, and the depth stops short enough that a 900mm clear zone in front of the basin is still achievable. The same carcass is available at 750, 900 and 1200mm on the same drilling if a project needs a uniform look across unit types.
How is a wall-hung cabinet fixed to Chilean walls?
With a galvanised steel rail rather than four corner brackets, because the load path matters more than the fixing count. The rail is drilled for six M8 anchors at 400 and 600mm centres, which covers reinforced masonry, concrete and metal-stud walls; on drywall a plywood pattress or a pair of floor-to-ceiling studs is specified at survey stage. The rail is fixed and levelled first, the cabinet hangs on it, and two adjustable brackets set the 150mm clearance after the tiles are laid — so a tiling tolerance of a few millimetres does not become a gap that has to be packed with spacers. The carcass is 18mm marine plywood specifically because a wall-hung box carries its load through the back panel.
Sintered stone or marble in a humid bathroom?
Sintered stone, for one practical reason: it is non-porous. A sealed marble or travertine top looks warmer, but in a bathroom it is exposed to toothpaste, hair dye, perfume and lime-scale cleaner, and every one of those etches or stains a calcium-based stone once the sealer film wears. A 20mm sintered stone deck with a 20mm square edge takes all of them without a sealer and without a re-polish, and it is thin enough at 20mm to keep the cabinet looking light. The trade-off is a colder, more graphic look, which is why the specification pairs a warm-white slab with the grey-green veneer rather than a pure white quartz.
How does a 20-piece order work, and what are the lead times?
The 20-piece MOQ is per model, and because the carcass, the runner drilling, the basin cut-out and the 3mm gap are identical across widths, a lot can mix 600 to 1200mm units freely and split between single and double bowl without a second set-up. A custom veneer finish match starts at 50 pieces with a sprayed approval panel, because a change of tone means a new flitch selection and a spray run. Sample 10 to 14 days, production 30 to 35 days, FOB Ningbo or CIF San Antonio, Valparaiso and Callao. The factory is 20,000 square metres and has supplied the top ten international building-material brands since 2009.
