900mm Ribbed Vanity & Shaving Cabinet — One Finish From the Floor Gap to the Ceiling Line

An Australian bathroom is not specified as a vanity plus a mirror. It is specified as one wall: a floating cabinet at 900mm below, a shaving cabinet above it, and a stone top in between, all in the same face. The reason is practical. Australian homes run 90mm studs behind 10mm plaster, the floor wastes are set in the slab, and there is rarely a bulkhead to hide a mirror that stops short of the ceiling. So the shaving cabinet becomes the storage, the mirror and the light source in one box, and the vanity becomes the only place the finish shows. This set is built that way: a 900 x 460 x 500mm wall-hung cabinet with vertical rounded ribs cut into a 18mm MDF face before spraying, a matching 900 x 1000 x 150mm shaving cabinet with twin 5mm mirrors, a 20mm sintered stone top with an undermount ceramic basin, and Blum TandemBox soft-close inside. Warm bone at 4 to 6 gloss units, sprayed two-coat polyurethane over a sealed primer, so the rib shadows stay soft instead of reading as hard stripes. The ribs are the part most factories get wrong: cut after lacquering they chip at the groove, so here the 6mm grooves are machined first, sealed, then sprayed, and the 3mm radius on every rib edge is what keeps the paint film intact through a decade of towel hooks and hair dryer cords. A 20-piece OEM/ODM programme for Australian bathroom retailers, joineries and project developers.

  • One matched set at 900mm: a 900 x 460 x 500mm wall-hung vanity plus a 900 x 1000 x 150mm shaving cabinet in the same warm bone matt lacquer, so the two boxes on the wall read as one elevation rather than two purchases
  • Vertical rounded ribs at 20mm face width on a 26mm pitch with 6mm grooves, CNC-machined into a 18mm MDF face before sealing and spraying — not cut after lacquering, which is where ribbed fronts chip and go grey along the groove
  • Warm bone at 4 to 6 gloss units in a two-coat polyurethane system over a sealed primer, colour matched to a supplied panel or to a RAL / NCS reference, with a 3mm radius on every rib edge so the film survives handles-free daily use
  • 20mm sintered stone top, 900 x 460mm with a 20mm square edge and a 20mm upstand, cut with a 35mm tap hole and a 45mm waste aperture to your plumbing set-out, sealed and edge-polished before crating
  • White ceramic undermount basin, roughly 450 x 320 x 120mm internal, fitted with a stainless clip system and a bead of neutral-cure silicone under the stone — no overflow slot to stain, no exposed rim to collect toothpaste
  • 18mm HMR plywood carcass with sealed ABS edges, glued and dowelled corners, 8mm back panel and 32mm system drilling; HMR rather than standard MR board because an Australian bathroom is a wet room with no door on the shower in most new plans
  • Blum TandemBox soft-close full-extension drawer rated 30kg under the basin with a 240mm internal height, plus Blum clip-on concealed hinges with three-way adjustment where a door is specified instead
  • Handleless throughout: 20mm finger recess under the top edge of the vanity and a slim horizontal pull groove on the shaving cabinet doors, both machined and sealed as part of the spray
  • Shaving cabinet with twin 5mm copper-free mirrors, adjustable 6mm toughened glass shelves, a magnetic catch and a 150mm deep body for surface mounting, or a 90mm body that sits between standard 90mm studs for a flush in-wall fit
  • IP44 LED strip along the underside of the shaving cabinet at 4000K, 12W per metre, with a separate driver in the cabinet and a sensor or rocker switch option; the strip is set back 15mm so it lights the basin and not the user's eyes
  • Steel hanging rail with adjustable hooks and a written wall specification: a loaded 900mm vanity is roughly 70kg once the stone and the basin are in, so fixing is to studs, masonry or a plywood pattress — plasterboard anchors alone are not accepted
  • Sized on the Australian grid at 900mm, with 750, 1200 and 1500mm on the same tooling and the same 460mm depth; MOQ 20 pieces per model with sizes and the left- or right-hand drawer bank mixed inside the 20, while a custom colour needs a 60-piece run

Product FAQ

Why sell the vanity and the shaving cabinet as one set rather than two lines?
Because in an Australian bathroom they are one elevation and the customer sees them together. Buy them from two suppliers and you get two warm bones that are not the same warm bone, two rib pitches, and a mirror cabinet whose frame is 20mm narrower than the cabinet under it. Here the ribs, the pitch, the spray batch and the colour reference are shared, the shaving cabinet is dimensioned to the same 900mm module, and both boxes ship on one packing list. It also removes the most common site argument: which trade is responsible for the gap between the top of the mirror cabinet and the ceiling line.
Do the ribs stay clean in a bathroom, or do the grooves trap toothpaste?
A 6mm groove with a 3mm radius on each rib edge is wide enough to wipe with a cloth and shallow enough that it does not hold water. The important detail is the order of operations: the groove is machined, sealed and then sprayed, so the inside of the groove carries the same polyurethane film as the face. Ribs that are cut after lacquering leave a raw MDF edge in the groove, and that edge is what swells, greys and eventually flakes. A damp microfibre cloth along the rib, not across it, is all the maintenance this needs.
Is the shaving cabinet recessed into the wall or surface mounted?
Both versions exist and the choice is made at order. The 150mm body is for surface mounting, which is what a renovation usually allows. The 90mm body is sized to sit between standard 90mm Australian studs with the mirror flush to the plaster, which suits a new build where the frame is still open. The 90mm version loses about 40mm of internal depth per shelf, so if you are storing tall bottles, take the surface version and accept the projection.
Can the stone top be cut for Australian plumbing and a local basin?
Yes, and we prefer to cut it here rather than on site. Send the tap position, the waste centre and the basin template with the order and the top arrives with a 35mm tap hole and a 45mm waste aperture already polished. Cutting sintered stone on site is the one operation that reliably ruins it: the material needs a diamond blade, water and a straight edge, and a chip on a front edge cannot be filled invisibly the way a painted face can.
What is actually carrying the weight on a 900mm wall-hung set?
A steel hanging rail fixed to the structure, not to the plaster. With the stone top and the basin fitted, a 900mm set is roughly 70kg, and the shaving cabinet above adds around 25kg loaded with bottles. We issue a one-page wall specification with every order covering timber studs, masonry and plywood pattress, and we ask for photographs of the wall before dispatch on project orders. It is a five-minute check that prevents the only failure mode this product has.
How does a 20-piece order work across sizes and colours?
Twenty pieces per model, and the 20 can mix the 750, 900, 1200 and 1500mm widths and the left- or right-hand drawer bank, because the rib pitch, the drilling and the stone profile are the same across the range. A custom colour, a non-standard stone or a mirrored layout needs a 60-piece run, since each of those means a dedicated spray batch or a re-programmed CNC file. Production runs 20 to 35 days after finish and stone approval, and sea freight to Port Botany, Melbourne or Fremantle adds 18 to 25 days. We are a 20,000 m2 factory in Jiangshan, Zhejiang, and we supply several of the world's ten largest building-material brands on the same lines.
