Deep Teal Matt Lacquer Kitchen — A Routed J-Pull With No Visible Hardware

Teal is the colour that separates the two blues in this range from the two greens, and it is the one most often specified wrongly. Buyers ask for teal and receive either a navy with a green cast or a forest green that photographs as mid-century. This run is petrol teal — blue-dominant, roughly RAL 5020 or NCS S 7020-B90G, at mid-dark value — so it stays recognisably blue-green under both 3000K and 4000K light instead of collapsing into green at dusk. The finish is a two-coat polyurethane lacquer at 5 gloss units: chalky in the hand, sealed against cooking grease, and flat enough that no highlight runs along a door edge. What makes it a different product from the teal shakers on the market is the front: there is no handle at all. A 12mm J-profile is routed into the top edge of every door and drawer front, sprayed in the same teal on the inside of the channel, so the only hardware you see is a shadow line that follows the run. That removes the single decision most kitchens stall on — which pull, which finish, which centre — and it removes the thing that dates a kitchen fastest. Behind the face it is an 18mm plywood carcass on 32mm system drilling with Blum soft-close throughout, 720mm base boxes on a 100mm plinth for a 900mm finished worktop height, and a 20mm white quartz top. A 20-piece OEM/ODM programme for importers, kitchen studios and apartment developers.

  • Petrol teal, blue-dominant — roughly RAL 5020 or NCS S 7020-B90G — matched to a supplied sample, so it does not drift into the forest green or navy already in this range under warm interior light
  • Two-coat polyurethane lacquer at 5 gloss units: chalky in appearance but sealed, so it resists cooking grease and wipe-down cleaners where an untreated matt paint absorbs them
  • Handleless by a 12mm J-profile routed into the top edge of every door and drawer front and sprayed in the same teal inside the channel — no pull, no knob, no hardware decision, and nothing to catch a cloth
  • 19mm MDF fronts, grain-filled and sanded flat before spraying, all four edges lacquered to the same sheen, so no ABS tape line or pale melamine seam runs around the door
  • Uniform 3mm shadow gaps held by the hinge and runner drilling rather than site adjustment, so a run of six fronts reads as one plane with parallel lines instead of six panels at six heights
  • A 100mm recessed plinth in the same teal, set back 60mm, so the base run appears to float and the toe-kick disappears in low light instead of reading as a grey band
  • 18mm plywood carcass with sealed ABS edges, 8mm back panel and 32mm system drilling — plywood rather than chipboard, because a routed handleless front shows any rack in the box as a widening gap
  • 720mm base carcasses on adjustable legs behind the plinth for a 900mm finished worktop height; 330mm deep wall units at 720mm high with one adjustable shelf on the 32mm system
  • 20mm white quartz worktop with a fine grey speckle, 620mm deep, square edge and a 100mm matching upstand — white rather than dark stone, so the mid-dark teal keeps its value instead of going black
  • Blum TandemBox soft-close drawers rated 30 to 70kg and Blum clip-on concealed hinges with three-way adjustment; a cost-equivalent Chinese runner set on the same 32mm drilling for entry price points
  • Standard module widths of 300 / 400 / 500 / 600 / 900 / 1000mm with 570mm deep base boxes, so a run plans on a 100mm grid and still lands on standard sink and appliance apertures without a bespoke carcass
  • Flat-packed RTA or assembled; doors crated in door-number order with a touch-up pot in the batch colour, so a site repair never needs a respray

Product FAQ

How is deep teal different from the forest green and navy already in the range?
It sits between them on the colour wheel and that is the point. The navy is blue with almost no green; the forest green is green with no blue. Petrol teal is blue-dominant with a green cast, around RAL 5020, and at mid-dark value it stays legible as blue-green under both warm and cool light. In a room with a lot of daylight it reads as a deep blue; under 3000K evening light it warms toward green-teal, which is why we approve it against a physical sample rather than a screen.
Is a routed J-pull strong enough, or does the front crack?
The profile is 12mm deep in a 19mm MDF front, which leaves 7mm of material behind the channel — enough that the front cannot flex at the pull. What matters is that the MDF is grain-filled and the channel is sprayed, because raw MDF in an unsealed groove will absorb moisture from hands and swell. We seal the channel in the same two-coat lacquer as the face.
Does a dark matt kitchen show fingerprints and grease?
Less than a gloss dark front, more than a light one. Matte at 5 gloss units scatters light instead of reflecting it, so fingerprints do not read the way they do on high gloss. Cooking grease near the hob is the real risk, which is why the topcoat is polyurethane rather than a matt paint: it wipes clean without burnishing the sheen. An anti-fingerprint topcoat is available for high-traffic rental programmes.
How is the colour approved before production?
Three routes: match to a RAL or NCS reference, match to a physical sample you send, or we spray three 200 × 300mm panels in adjacent values and courier them for approval. Production does not start until a signed panel comes back. On repeat orders we keep the approved panel and the batch formulation on file.
How does a 20-piece order work, and what are the lead times?
Twenty pieces per model, and the 20 can be split across widths, door styles and even a two-tone split. A single paid sample kitchen is available for evaluation. Production runs 30 to 35 days after colour approval, and sea freight to Santos or Itapoá adds 30 to 35 days. We are a 20,000 m² factory in Jiangshan, Zhejiang, supplying several of the world's ten largest building-material brands on the same lines.
