What does a cabinet supplier actually contribute to a Brisbane 2032 project?
Cabinet work, not structures. The Games program being delivered by GIICA is venues — stadiums, aquatic centres, indoor sports halls. Our part sits one layer down the supply chain: the bathroom vanities, shaving cabinets and kitchen runs inside the athlete villages and the residential buildings those villages become after 2032, plus back-of-house wet areas and staff amenities inside the venues. We supply the joinery package to the developer, head contractor or fit-out contractor who holds the building contract — we are not a Games sponsor or a nominated Games supplier.
Can FAME supply several hundred identical vanity units for an athlete village?
Yes. The constraint in a village is not volume, it is consistency: the four-hundredth unit has to match the first one after two more containers and a factory that has run other orders in between. We approve one colour panel and one gloss reading for the order, retain a door from that approved batch, and pack in apartment-numbered packs so the site does not have to sort units. Our MOQ is 20 pieces per model, and the same model can be re-ordered across a staged delivery programme.
What board and finish do you recommend for Queensland humidity?
18mm HMR plywood carcasses with sealed edges rather than MDF, wherever the bathroom is sealed and mechanically ventilated — which is the normal condition in an apartment. A sealed bathroom with a semi-frameless shower holds moisture longer than a house bathroom with an opening window, and MDF fails at the bottom rail and the back-panel edge rather than in the middle of a door. On the front, two-coat polyurethane at 4–6 gloss units holds up better than a high-gloss film in a room that cycles between shower humidity and air-conditioning.
How long does production and delivery to Brisbane take?
Production is 25–45 days depending on quantity and finish, plus ocean freight. Samples take 7–15 days after design confirmation. For a staged village or apartment programme we build a loading plan per building block so containers arrive against your installation sequence instead of piling up in a compound.
Can you supply flat-packed so the joiner assembles on site?
Yes, and for multi-storey work it is usually the better choice — flat packs move in a goods lift, stack without crushing corner posts, and a damaged front can be replaced without scrapping a carcass. We supply the assembly sequence and fixing schedule with the first delivery. Assembled and corner-protected units are also available where the contractor wants finished boxes on the floor.
Do you supply tapware, wastes and sanitaryware?
No. Tapware, wastes and any plumbing product that requires WaterMark certification in Australia stays with your plumbing supplier, who holds that certification. We supply the cabinet, the benchtop and the basin where specified, and we can supply tops undrilled or drilled to your own basin template so your plumber's set-out governs hole positions.
What compliance documentation can you provide for a certifier?
Our production is certified to ISO9001, CE, SGS and IP44 (on lit units), and FSA for timber sourcing. For a project file we issue board E0/E1 declarations, hardware certificates, and a product data sheet per model with dimensions, materials, hardware schedule and packing data. If your certifier needs a specific document format, tell us at tender stage and we will confirm what we can issue before you commit.
Have you supplied Australia before, and for how long?
FAME has been manufacturing since 2009 — 17 years — and Australia has been one of our three core export markets for that period, alongside Europe and North America. Over 80% of output is exported. Our Australian work has been retail and trade programmes through importers and brands rather than direct Games contracts, which is the experience a fit-out contractor is actually buying: container maths, finish consistency across repeats, and documentation that survives an audit.
We are at tender stage — what do you need from us to price a package?
Four things: a unit schedule or BOQ (how many of each width, per building or per level), the door style and finish reference, the benchtop material and edge detail, and the delivery sequence. With those we return a per-unit price, a lead time against your programme, and a packing plan. If the drawings are not final, send the unit mix and one typical bathroom elevation and we will price from the platform.
Are you registered on QTenders or the Games supplier portal?
Those registers serve organisations contracting directly with government or the Organising Committee. Our route to a Games-linked building is through the developer, head contractor or joinery contractor who holds the building contract, so that is where we focus. As at early November 2026 GIICA's tender register listed expressions of interest for the Logan Indoor Sports Centre (closing 5 November 2026) and the Moreton Bay Indoor Sports Centre (closing 27 November 2026) — both delivery-contractor packages, which is exactly the level at which a joinery supplier enters the chain.
