800mm German Wall-Hung Vanity — Oak Fronts, Ceramic Basin, No Handles

German bathroom planning starts from the wall, not from the cabinet. A vanity wall in a 1990s or 2000s Wohnung is usually 900 to 1100mm between the door reveal and the shower, and the depth available is 500mm because the room was dimensioned around a 500mm-deep washbasin cabinet. That is the module this unit is built to: 800mm wide, 500mm deep, 460mm high, hung on the wall so the floor tile runs underneath and a mop reaches the whole room. Two oak-veneer doors on the left, a shallow and a deep drawer on the right, no handles of any kind — a 20mm recessed aluminium rail under the top edge does the pulling. The basin is glazed ceramic rather than a cast-mineral mould: German buyers specify ceramic, and a ceramic bowl with a proper overflow is what a Sanitär installer expects to fit without a conversation.

  • 800 x 500 x 460mm wall-hung cabinet, finished top height 820 to 860mm depending on the basin set-out — the 500mm depth matches the standard German washbasin cabinet so a replacement drops into an existing tile cut-out
  • One-piece glazed ceramic basin with a soft rectangular inner bowl roughly 600 x 340 x 130mm, a real overflow channel and a 35mm waste; glazed on all faces including the underside so a steamy room cannot reach an unglazed body
  • Light oak veneer 0.6mm on an 18mm MDF core with a 2mm solid oak lipping on every front edge, water-based matt lacquer at 4 to 6 gloss units over a sealed primer, grain held vertically across the run
  • Two doors with Blum clip-on concealed hinges, three-way adjustment and integrated soft-close, plus a shallow 120mm and a deep 240mm drawer on full-extension runners rated 40kg
  • Handleless throughout: a 20mm recessed aluminium grip rail in brushed stainless runs the full width under the top edge, so nothing projects into a 900mm walkway and no handle works loose in a family bathroom
  • 18mm plywood carcass on all six faces, E1 board, sealed ABS edges, glued and dowelled corners, 8mm back panel and 32mm system drilling — plywood rather than chipboard because a German bathroom without mechanical extract runs above 65% RH
  • 20mm white solid-surface top with a square edge, a 2mm arris and a 20mm upstand, cut for the ceramic bowl and the tap before crating; the upstand is siliconed here, not on site
  • Steel hanging rail across the full 800mm with fixing centres at 400 and 600mm, a written wall specification for Rigips on CW profiles, sand-lime brick and poured concrete, plus a plywood pattress detail where the studs miss the rail
  • Service void 60mm behind the drawer boxes for a bottle trap; the drawer bank is offset at order stage so the trap clears the box instead of being squeezed behind it; waste and supply apertures pre-cut to your set-out
  • Tap drilling to your layout — one 35mm hole centred on the bowl, or a 35mm hole offset 60mm to the right for a three-hole set with a plate; all apertures cut and edge-sealed before packing
  • Three packages per set: carcass and drawers at roughly 26kg in a 5-layer carton, the ceramic basin in a moulded EPS shell inside a second carton, the top crated flat in a third — one packing list, one container booking
  • MOQ 20 pcs per model, with 600, 800 and 1000mm widths mixable inside the 20; 20 to 35 days production after finish and basin approval, plus 28 to 35 days sea freight to Hamburg or Bremerhaven

Product FAQ

Why 500mm deep rather than the 460mm used in other European markets?
Because in Germany the washbasin cabinet sets the depth of the whole bathroom wall. A 500mm-deep unit is what fits under a standard 500mm ceramic basin, what clears a 900mm walkway in a room 1.6 metres wide, and what replaces an existing cabinet without re-cutting the tile. On a 460mm carcass the bowl has to move back and the tap lands almost against the wall, which is exactly the compromise German buyers reject at the showroom. The same carcass tooling runs at 460mm for French and British programmes, so an exporter carrying both markets does not need two factories — only two drilling programmes, and both sit inside one 20-piece order.
Ceramic or cast mineral for the basin — which one should a German programme specify?
Ceramic, unless the project is a hotel with a maintenance team. A glazed ceramic bowl is fired, so the surface is glass: it does not stain from hair dye or toothpaste, it wipes clean without a re-polish, and every Sanitär installer in Germany has fitted one. Cast mineral can be repaired with wet paper, but it needs that repair, and in a family bathroom the repair never happens. The trade-off runs the other way on weight and transit: the ceramic bowl ships in its own EPS shell in a separate carton because a 600mm glazed bowl does not survive a corner impact inside a carcass carton, and the packing list therefore shows three packages per set instead of two.
Will the unit hold on a Rigips wall in a German apartment?
Not on the plasterboard alone, and this is where most retrofits fail: the wall behind a vanity is usually 12.5mm Rigips on CW 50 or CW 75 profiles at 625mm centres, and a loaded 800mm unit with a ceramic basin is around 46kg. The steel rail spans the full cabinet width so the fixings can reach two profiles, and where they do not land on the rail centres we specify a plywood pattress behind the board or a pair of resin-anchored threaded rods into the masonry behind the lining. One page of drawings covers Rigips, Kalksandstein and concrete, and for project orders we ask for a photograph of the wall with a tape measure in frame before dispatch.
Does an oak veneer front survive a bathroom with no window?
Yes, if the sealing is done on all six faces and the core is stable. The front is 0.6mm oak on an 18mm MDF core with a solid oak lipping rather than a taped edge — the tape edge is what lifts first in a steamy room. The lacquer is water-based matt over a sealed primer, which keeps the grain visible but closed to moisture. What actually fails in an internal bathroom is the bottom edge of a floor-standing unit sitting in splash water; this cabinet is wall-hung with 300mm of clear floor, so there is no bottom rail to swell. For a windowless room, or a project within reach of the North Sea, we quote the satin version, because a slightly higher film build wipes down and re-seals more easily.
How does a 20-piece order work across widths and options?
Twenty pieces per model, and the 20 can mix 600, 800 and 1000mm, left- or right-hand drawer bank, one- or three-hole tap drilling and the two grip-rail finishes, because the drilling programme, the rail and the top profile are the same across the range. What needs its own run is anything that changes the spray batch or the mould: a custom colour, a non-standard top thickness or a mirrored layout, each at 60 pieces. Production is 20 to 35 days after finish and basin approval, then 28 to 35 days by sea to Hamburg or Bremerhaven. We are a 20,000 m² factory in Jiangshan, Zhejiang, 17 years old this year, and we supply several of the world's ten largest building-material brands on the same lines.
