Glass-Door Kitchen Wall Cabinet with LED — Black Aluminium Frames, Tempered Glass

The upper run is where a kitchen either looks considered or looks like storage. A solid door at eye level is a 720 mm blank panel in the most visible band of the room; a glass door in the same opening turns the same cabinetry into display and makes a small kitchen read wider. The catch is that a glass door with no light behind it becomes a dark recess that shows every fingerprint and every shadow of the crockery inside, so this unit carries its own light: a 2700K strip recessed under the top panel and under each shelf, on a 12V circuit that plugs into a driver in the adjacent cabinet.

  • 900 mm W x 720 mm H x 350 mm D as standard, in 600 / 750 / 900 / 1200 mm widths on the same door programme — 720 mm matches the standard upper-cabinet band above a 900 mm worktop with a 600 mm splashback
  • 1.4 mm matte black powder-coated aluminium door frames with mitred corners and a 6 mm visible face, thin enough that the glass reads as the door rather than the frame
  • 5 mm clear tempered glass held on a continuous EPDM gasket — 5 mm rather than 4 mm because a 720 mm door flexes visibly at 4 mm when it is opened by one corner
  • 2700K LED strip at 8 W/m recessed under the top panel and under each shelf behind an opal diffuser, so the shelf contents are lit from above with no diode dots visible through the glass
  • 12V DC constant-voltage system with a remote driver sized for up to 6 m of strip per channel; hard-wired to a wall switch, or on a door-activated sensor as an option
  • Two adjustable interior shelves on a 32 mm drilled system, rated 20 kg each, in matte white to bounce the LED light back into the cabinet
  • Soft-close concealed hinges at 110 degrees with a black cover cap, three-way adjustment; a slim black aluminium finger-pull rail along the bottom edge of each door replaces a knob and keeps the face flat

Product FAQ

Why put a glass-door cabinet in the upper run instead of a solid door?
Because the 720 mm band above the worktop is the part of the kitchen you look at while standing at the counter, and a solid door there is a blank panel. Glass in that band does three things: it breaks up a run of solid fronts, it lets the LED light out into the room so the wall reads as lit rather than shadowed, and it makes a narrow kitchen feel wider because the eye goes through the door instead of stopping at it. The honest trade-off is dust and fingerprints — this is a display cabinet for daily glassware and crockery, not for the plastic containers and the air fryer accessories.
How is the LED wired, and does it need a electrician?
The cabinet itself runs on 12V, so only a pre-terminated 2 m lead leaves the carcass. That lead plugs into a remote driver sitting in the adjacent cabinet or a ceiling void, and the driver is what connects to the 240V circuit. In practice the electrician provides a switched circuit to the driver location during first fix and the cabinet is plugged in at install; no mains voltage enters the cabinet and the strip is IP20 for dry kitchen zones. If you want the light to come on when the door opens, we supply a door switch in line with the lead.
Is 5 mm tempered glass necessary, or will 4 mm do?
On a 900 mm two-door unit, 5 mm. A 720 mm high door in 4 mm glass flexes when it is opened by one corner, and that flex shows as a distorted reflection at the edges and eventually works the gasket loose. The cost difference is small; the difference in how the door feels and how long the seal lasts is not. For a 600 mm single door, 4 mm is acceptable, and we quote it that way if the project needs to hit a price.
Does an aluminium frame mean the cabinet is for modern kitchens only?
No, the frame is the detail that decides that. A 6 mm visible matte black frame with a mitred corner reads as industrial or contemporary; the same profile in brushed brass at 4 mm reads as a 1930s pantry cabinet and works in a period kitchen; matte white at 6 mm disappears and behaves like a frameless door. The carcass colour is the bigger decision, because it is what the glass reveals.
What does a 20-piece order look like, and how does it ship?
Twenty pieces can be split across 600, 750, 900 and 1200 mm widths and across the four standard frame finishes, with custom RAL from 50 pcs in one colour. Glass is the packaging risk on this product, so each carton carries a rigid protection insert and foam corner blocks, doors are crated inside the carcass carton, and we recommend ordering one spare glass pane per 20 doors for site breakage. Sample lead time is 7 to 10 days, production 30 to 35 days, FOB Ningbo or CIF to the destination port.
