900mm Microcement Vanity — Hand-Trowelled Fronts and a One-Piece Cast Basin

French bathrooms are small and usually windowless, which is why the finish matters more here than the size. A white gloss cabinet in a 4m² salle de bain reflects every bulb and makes the room feel like a showroom; a hand-trowelled microcement front absorbs that light the way the walls do, so the cabinet reads as part of the room instead of an object standing in it. This run takes the material that French specifiers already use on walls — a two-coat mineral microcement over a 6mm fibre-cement carrier, sealed with a matte water-repellent topcoat — and puts it on a 900mm wall-hung carcass. The surface is trowelled by hand in two passes, so the tonal clouds and the faint trowel drag are different on every door; that is the point of the finish and it is also why no two units match exactly. In front of it sits a counter and basin cast as one piece in mineral solid surface, 20mm thin at the edge, so the top line is a single unbroken plane rather than a slab with a bowl dropped into it. There are no handles: both drawers are push-open on Blum Tip-On, with the front edges set 3mm off the carcass so the shadow gap is the only line you read. The cabinet hangs at 480mm tall on a galvanised rail, which leaves the floor visible under it in a room where every 100mm counts, and it is specified in 800, 900 and 1000mm widths on the same depth. A 20-piece OEM/ODM programme for French importers, négoces and hotel refurbishment specifiers.

  • Fronts finished in hand-trowelled microcement — two mineral coats over a 6mm fibre-cement carrier, sealed with a matte water-repellent topcoat, so the surface has the chalky depth of a béton ciré wall rather than the flat sheen of a lacquered door
  • Warm grey-beige tone with natural trowel variation in every panel — the tonal clouds and faint drag marks are hand-made, so a run reads as plasterwork instead of six identical printed fronts
  • Sealed, not raw: the topcoat is a two-component water-repellent matt that resists splashes and bathroom cleaners, and a damaged corner can be re-trowelled and re-sealed on site without respraying the whole front
  • Counter and basin cast as one piece in mineral solid surface, 20mm at the edge — a single unbroken top line with no joint, no separate ceramic bowl to source, and a shallow rectangular bowl with soft radiused internal corners
  • Non-porous cast surface with a matte finish that can be sanded and re-polished on site — no glaze to chip, and no gel-coat layer that lifts at the waste
  • Completely handleless: both drawers are push-open on Blum Tip-On, with front edges set 3mm off the carcass so the only line on the face is a shadow gap, not a pull or a finger recess
  • 18mm plywood carcass with sealed ABS edges and an 8mm back panel — plywood rather than chipboard, because a flush handleless front shows any rack in the box as a widening gap
  • Top drawer with a factory-cut siphon recess, so a bottle trap sits behind the drawer instead of eating the storage; the lower drawer runs full depth
  • Blum TandemBox soft-close full-extension runners, 30kg rated, with a push-open option on the same drilling; cost-equivalent Chinese runners available for entry price points
  • Wall-hung on a galvanised steel rail, two M10 anchors per stud bay, 150kg static rating — fixing drawings and a wall-reinforcement schedule ship with every order
  • Counters supplied undrilled for wall-mounted mixers, or drilled at the factory to a supplied tap template; the 460mm depth suits compact French bathrooms where 500mm blocks the door swing
  • Optional IP44 LED mirror at 900×800×30mm with anti-fog demister, touch switch and 3000/4000/6000K, wired to a single 220V wall box on a 1.5m flex

Product FAQ

Is the microcement front really hand-trowelled, or is it a printed foil?
It is applied by hand in two mineral coats over a 6 mm fibre-cement carrier, then sealed. A printed foil would be cheaper and perfectly repeatable — which is exactly why we do not use one here: the tonal clouds and the faint trowel drag are what make the front read as plasterwork beside a béton ciré wall. The trade-off is that no two panels are identical, so we send a photographed control sample for approval before a run starts.
Will the finish survive a bathroom?
The microcement itself is mineral and the topcoat is a two-component water-repellent matt, so splashes, soap and normal bathroom cleaners sit on the surface rather than soaking in. It is not a glazed ceramic: do not scrub it with an abrasive pad or leave acidic descaler pooling on it. If a corner does get damaged, it can be re-trowelled and re-sealed on site, which is not true of a lacquered or foiled front.
Why a cast basin instead of a ceramic one?
Because the joint disappears. A cast mineral top and bowl come out as one piece, so there is no silicone line around a drop-in bowl and nothing to re-seal in ten years. It also removes a second supplier and a second carton from the order. The surface is non-porous and matte, and it can be sanded and re-polished on site if it ever dulls.
Is 460mm deep enough for a French bathroom?
For most apartments, yes — and it is deliberate. At 500mm a wall-hung unit starts to foul the door swing in the 3–4 m² bathrooms common in Haussmann and post-war stock. 460mm keeps a 900mm cabinet usable while leaving the door clearance; if the room allows it, the same carcass is available at 500mm on request.
How do the drawers open with no handles?
Both drawers are push-open on Blum Tip-On: press the front and the runner releases. The front edges sit 3mm off the carcass, so there is a shadow line to press against and no finger recess cut into the trowelled face — cutting one would break the finish line that the whole design depends on.
What is the MOQ and how does a first order work?
20 pieces per model, and the 20 can be split across 800, 900 and 1000mm widths plus basin colour options. A single paid sample is available for evaluation. Production is 30 days after finish approval; we are a 20,000 m² factory in Jiangshan, Zhejiang, supplying several of the world's ten largest building-material brands, and the same line runs this programme.
