800 mm Wall-Hung Vanity with Edge-Lit LED Mirror and Fluted Side Column

A Chilean apartment bathroom is typically 2.2 to 2.8 square metres, and the wall you can actually build on is 1.2 to 1.5 metres wide. That is the constraint this set is drawn around: an 800 mm basin cabinet, a 300 mm fluted column standing beside it, and a mirror that carries its own light because there is no ceiling downlight over the basin in most of these units. The column is the part that changes how the room works. It takes the towels, the cleaning bottles and the hairdryer off the worktop and off the floor, which is what makes an 800 mm cabinet livable rather than cramped. Everything is wall-hung, so the floor reads continuous and a mop goes under the carcass.

  • 800 mm W x 460 mm D x 500 mm H basin cabinet plus a separate 300 mm W x 300 mm D x 1200 mm H fluted column, so the full wall run is 1100 mm and fits a 1.2 m bathroom wall with a 100 mm service gap
  • Seamless white glazed ceramic integrated basin with a shallow rectangular bowl, pre-drilled single tap hole and no front overflow slot — the front face stays clean and there is no trap to wipe around
  • Ash-grey matte lacquer fronts (a warm light grey, roughly RAL 7047 territory) with a fine vertical flute on the column doors and a smooth face on the drawer bank, so the two elements read as one family without matching exactly
  • Full-extension soft-close drawer runners rated 30 kg with a concealed undermount slide, plus a lower flap door on adjustable soft-close hinges — the drawer takes the daily items, the flap takes the bulky bottles
  • Waterproof 18 mm plywood carcass with sealed edges and an 8 mm moisture-resistant back panel, specified for coastal Chilean humidity rather than standard MDF
  • 5 mm frameless mirror with a 20 mm frosted 4000K LED halo bonded behind the edge — no visible diode strip, no shadow line on the wall, 12V driver in the column
  • Two slim brushed-nickel bar pulls, 128 mm centres, fitted horizontally on the drawer and vertically on the column; Blum hardware upgrade available on the same drilling pattern

Product FAQ

Why specify an 800 mm vanity rather than 900 mm for a Chilean apartment?
Because the wall run, not the cabinet, is the limit. In a typical 2.4 m2 bathroom the basin wall is 1.2 to 1.5 m and the shower or the door swing eats 400 to 500 mm of it. An 800 mm cabinet plus a 300 mm column uses 1100 mm and still leaves a service gap; a 900 mm cabinet leaves nothing for storage, so towels end up on the floor or on a plastic rack. If the wall is genuinely 1.5 m clear, the same door programme is available at 900 and 1000 mm with no change to the design language.
Is the fluted column structural or decorative?
Decorative in form, but it does real work. It is a separate wall-hung carcass on its own hanging rail, so it can be installed 20 mm off the cabinet, butted tight, or left out entirely. The flute is a 6 mm pitch, 2 mm deep routed pattern in 18 mm MDF, lacquered with the same ash-grey as the cabinet. It hides finger marks better than a flat door, which matters on a surface that gets touched every morning.
How is the LED mirror powered, and is it safe in a bathroom?
The mirror runs on 12V. A remote driver sits inside the column and connects to the 240V circuit, so the mirror itself only carries a low-voltage lead. The LED module is rated IP44, which covers bathroom zone 2 — the area around the basin outside the 600 mm zone 1 circle around a shower or bath. In practice the electrician provides a switched feed to the driver location during first fix. If the bathroom has no spare circuit, we supply a version with a plug-in driver and an inline switch.
Does a plywood carcass really matter in Chile?
On the coast, yes. Valparaiso, Vina del Mar and Concepcion run high year-round humidity, and the failure mode we see on cheap imports is not the door finish — it is the carcass edge swelling and the back panel delaminating within two winters. Sealed 18 mm plywood with a moisture-resistant back panel costs roughly 12 to 15 percent more than E1 MFC and removes that failure. For inland dry-climate projects such as Santiago or Calama, MFC is a legitimate cost saving and we quote both.
What does a 20-piece order look like in practice?
Twenty pieces can be split across 600, 800, 900 and 1000 mm cabinet widths, across column heights, and across two finishes, with custom RAL from 50 pcs in one colour. Mirrors are counted per cabinet. Because mirror glass is the packaging risk, we recommend one spare mirror per 20 units for site breakage. Sample lead time is 7 to 10 days and production 30 to 35 days, FOB Ningbo or CIF to San Antonio and Valparaiso.
